Machine Shop Lead
Our client is seeking a Machine Shop Lead to join their manufacturing team. This hands-on, working leadership role guides a group of CNC machinists while staying productive on the machines. This role is on-site in Hubbard, Oregon.
Machine Shop Lead Responsibilities

- Direct the daily work of CNC machinists in an assigned machine group to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Assign and prioritize tasks and job sequencing based on the production schedule, and flag staffing or coverage gaps to the Supervisor.
- Act as the first point of contact for machinists’ technical questions, program issues, and setup problems, escalating unresolved issues to the Supervisor, engineering, or quality.
- Train and mentor machinists on CNC programming, machine operation, and quality control procedures.
- Give ongoing feedback and coaching to machinists, and share observations on performance and development needs with the Supervisor.
- Design, build, and validate fixturing for customer parts.
- Partner with engineering and quality assurance to improve machining processes and resolve production challenges.
- Follow inspection procedures and operate machines properly to ensure quality standards are met.
- Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot problems, and coordinate routine maintenance to keep equipment running reliably.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper PPE use and OSHA compliance, and help team members do the same.
- Keep product documentation accurate and complete.
- Track inventory of tooling, materials, and supplies, and report needs to the Supervisor to avoid production delays.
- Coordinate with scheduling to keep work moving smoothly from machining to outside services.
- Lead or take part in daily team meetings to support communication and coordination.
- Keep assigned work areas clean and organized.
- Uphold the company’s values and policies.
