Escheatment Accountant
Our client is seeking an Escheatment Accountant to support critical accounting operations by ensuring compliance with unclaimed property regulations and maintaining the accuracy of financial records. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys researching and resolving complex issues, and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely work while collaborating across multiple teams.
This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, or Idaho and work PST hours.
Escheatment Accountant Responsibilities
- Research and administer unclaimed property processes to ensure compliance with state regulations and filing requirements.
- Analyze outstanding payments, reconcile discrepancies, and coordinate payment reissues, voids, and stop payments as needed.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, filings, and supporting documentation for audits and regulatory reporting.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries while providing excellent customer service and resolving payment-related issues.
- Support internal controls, quality assurance activities, and continuous process improvements while consistently meeting productivity and accuracy goals.
Escheatment Accountant Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of accounting, accounts payable, or related financial operations experience; additional accounting coursework is preferred.
- Experience working with accounting systems or ERP platforms, along with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to process detailed financial information accurately and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information professionally and collaborate across all levels of an organization.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, mathematical calculations, financial recordkeeping, and customer service best practices.
Compensation: $19-$22/hr. (DOE)
