Data Governance Analyst
Our client is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to support enterprise data governance initiatives that improve the quality, accessibility, and consistency of critical business data. This role will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to implement governance best practices, maintain metadata and documentation, and help drive the adoption of standardized data management processes across multiple business initiatives.
This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, or North Dakota.
Data Governance Analyst Responsibilities
- Support enterprise data governance initiatives by implementing governance processes, onboarding data assets, and promoting governance adoption across business domains.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams to facilitate governance activities, align data ownership, and drive cross-functional engagement.
- Create, maintain, and enhance business metadata, business glossaries, data definitions, and governance documentation within a data governance platform.
- Assist with governance assessments for new and existing data assets, ensuring alignment with organizational data governance standards and policies.
- Support data quality initiatives by monitoring governance controls, tracking issues, and encouraging adoption of data quality best practices.
- Coordinate governance activities across multiple projects, tracking deliverables, timelines, and stakeholder commitments.
- Partner with business and data teams to promote compliance with enterprise data governance policies, standards, and documentation requirements.
- Facilitate governance workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder meetings to increase awareness and adoption of governance processes.
- Prepare governance artifacts, executive presentations, status reports, process documentation, and other project-related deliverables.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of enterprise data governance services by identifying opportunities to streamline governance processes and documentation.
Data Governance Analyst Qualifications
- Experience supporting or implementing enterprise data governance, data management, or information governance programs.
- Proven ability to facilitate meetings and collaborate effectively with business, technical, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong business analysis, documentation, process mapping, and requirements gathering skills.
- Experience working with metadata management, data cataloging, business glossaries, data stewardship, or related data governance initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience using Collibra or a comparable data governance platform is preferred.
- Familiarity with data quality management concepts, governance controls, and issue management processes is preferred.
- Exposure to enterprise data platforms, data architecture, analytics, or information management environments is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Jira, SQL, Microsoft Teams, and Visio or similar diagramming tools is beneficial.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred. Equivalent professional experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Analysis, Information Management, or a related field will also be considered.
