Sr. Software Engineer (Part-Time)
Our client is seeking a part-time Sr. Software Engineer to strengthen its technology team’s artificial intelligence capabilities. The team already includes a highly skilled senior engineer, and this person will join them to design and deliver AI agents within the company’s custom-built platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer with a background in telecommunications or contact center environments.

This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon working around 20-30 hours per week.

Sr. Software Engineer (Part-Time) Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents and agentic systems that improve internal platforms and day-to-day business operations.
• Integrate AI-driven features into custom-built, in-house applications.
• Create AI-powered automation and intelligent workflows.
• Develop scalable, cloud-based applications on AWS or Azure.
• Support the architecture, integration, and deployment of AI solutions within existing systems.
• Partner with the current senior engineer to grow the team’s AI development capacity.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure design, scalability, and performance tuning.

Sr. Software Engineer (Part-Time) Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and deploying AI agents and agentic systems, beyond simply using AI development tools.
• Senior-level software engineering background, with experience delivering production-grade applications and platforms.
• Strong cloud development experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into live production applications.
• Background in the telecommunications, call center, or contact center industry.
• Experience building custom or internally developed software platforms.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with senior technical team members.

Preferred:

• Cloud infrastructure engineering experience, including architecture, deployment, and scalability.
• Experience with AI orchestration frameworks, LLM integrations, and automated workflows.
• Experience building AI solutions for voice, communications, customer service, or contact center settings.
• Familiarity with real-time communication systems or telephony platforms.
• Exposure to Node.js, .NET, or C#, though candidates from other technical backgrounds are welcome.
