  • Partner with merchandising buyers and business teams to create and share a cohesive strategy that connects financial goals with product opportunities.
  • Create pre-season style plans and develop monthly sales and inventory forecasts for core and fashion styles.
  • Forecast in-season sales and inventory on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, and report on forecast variance each week.
  • Own open-to-buy forecasts and develop strategies to meet department financial and inventory targets.
  • Analyze business performance against the financial plan and share actionable insights with managers and cross-functional partners.
  • Present plans, forecasts, and recommendations in key meetings, and keep stakeholders informed on the health of the business.
  • Manage product lifecycles from launch through close-out, including the handling of aging inventory.
  • Support monthly and seasonal inventory management activities.
  • Monitor pricing across the market and product portfolio, and recommend adjustments in line with the overall pricing strategy.
  • Build and maintain reporting tools used across the planning team.
  • Collaborate with peers to keep information consistent, share best practices, and strengthen knowledge of planning systems.

Senior Assortment Planner Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of planning experience, including merchandise planning in a retail environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Comfort working in planning systems, with an eagerness to learn new software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with merchandising and cross-functional partners.
  • Self-starter who can drive toward a clear result even when the path is undefined.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to bring order to information from many sources and build repeatable processes.

Preferred:

  • Prior retail industry experience.
  • Background in retail planning, merchandising, inventory management, or related operational areas.
  • Interest in apparel and footwear, and enthusiasm for a well-known consumer brand.
