Manufacturing Engineer Final Assembly & Aircraft Systems
Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Final Assembly & Aircraft Systems to provide hands-on engineering support for aircraft final assembly and integrated systems. This role will work closely with production teams to translate engineering requirements into practical, repeatable manufacturing processes while solving build challenges and driving improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and workflow. The ideal candidate brings aerospace or aviation manufacturing experience, strong technical problem-solving skills, and the initiative to independently identify and implement process improvements in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

This role is on-site in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support for aircraft final assembly, partnering directly with mechanics and production teams to troubleshoot build issues and resolve root causes.
• Develop, maintain, and improve assembly sequences, manufacturing methods, routings, and installation processes for aircraft systems.
• Translate engineering designs into safe, efficient, repeatable, and configuration-controlled manufacturing processes, providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input for new designs and engineering changes.
• Support the integration and installation of aircraft systems, including electrical, avionics, hydraulic, fuel, flight control, braking, oxygen, and environmental systems.
• Ensure alignment between engineering and manufacturing Bills of Materials (eBOM/mBOM), drawings, models, product lifecycle systems, ERP data, and shop-floor requirements.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, manufacturing drawings, CAD models, tooling requirements, and technical change documentation.
• Analyze production challenges and implement practical improvements that enhance safety, ergonomics, quality, manufacturability, and production flow.
• Collaborate across Design Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, Tooling, and Configuration Management to support aircraft build requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.

Manufacturing Engineer Qualifications

• Aerospace or aviation manufacturing experience involving aircraft final assembly, aircraft systems integration, or a comparable complex, low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience supporting production, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective or process improvements.
• Working knowledge of multiple aircraft systems, such as electrical, avionics, hydraulics, fuel, flight controls, brakes, oxygen, or environmental systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, technical specifications, Bills of Materials, and 3D engineering models.
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience translating engineering requirements into manufacturing processes, including Design for Manufacturability principles and production-ready documentation.
• Experience with eBOM/mBOM reconciliation, manufacturing drawings, CAD modeling, ERP systems, PLM platforms, or configuration-controlled manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing technologies and tools such as Siemens NX, Teamcenter, SAP, Epicor, or comparable systems is beneficial.
• Experience applying Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or other methods to simplify processes and improve production performance is preferred.
• Strong critical-thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently, take ownership of problems, and develop solutions without relying on highly prescriptive processes.

Salary: $70K-$140K/year + Bonus. (DOE)
