This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, or North Dakota. Central Time Zone working hours are required.

Business Systems Analyst Responsibilities

  • Analyze business needs and translate requirements into functional system designs, configurations, specifications, data flows, interfaces, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide ongoing application support by investigating system and process issues, troubleshooting defects, responding to user inquiries, and coordinating resolutions with technical and business teams.
  • Plan, develop, and execute unit, regression, acceptance, and post-implementation testing for system fixes, enhancements, upgrades, and configuration changes, documenting expected and actual results.
  • Configure and enhance systems throughout the development lifecycle, including supporting data conversions, migrations, implementation planning, backup strategies, and change control activities.
  • Develop SQL scripts, ad hoc reports, data validation tools, and other utilities to support data analysis, system updates, and business operations.
  • Partner with developers, business stakeholders, and other project resources to evaluate solution alternatives, review technical designs, coordinate testing activities, and deliver system changes within established timelines.
  • Monitor system performance and operational processes, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and implement enhancements that improve functionality, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Support system security requests, end-user communications, training activities, and other implementation or sustainment needs as appropriate.

Business Systems Analyst Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in business requirements analysis, process modeling, functional systems design, system configuration, acceptance testing, or a related business systems analysis function.
  • Experience supporting healthcare business operations or systems, such as membership/enrollment, claims processing, provider operations, or other health plan functions.
  • Experience working with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) files is preferred, particularly 834 enrollment and disenrollment transactions.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, data analysis, reporting, data validation, and relational database concepts; experience with healthcare platforms such as Facets and tools such as Microsoft Access is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, entity relationship models, functional and technical specifications, interface designs, and related system documentation.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to research complex issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions in situations with incomplete or evolving requirements.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service skills with the ability to bridge business and technical teams while working both independently and within a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant healthcare industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
