Data Engineer
Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to support a high-impact data engineering team during a leave coverage engagement while helping expand modern data capabilities, develop scalable data products, and improve business performance through data-driven solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a collaborative Agile environment, enjoys solving complex data challenges, and is passionate about building reliable, high-performance data platforms that support analytics, AI initiatives, and strategic decision-making.
This role is on-site in Beaverton, Oregon.
Data Engineer Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance scalable data pipelines, data products, and engineering solutions that support analytics, reporting, AI initiatives, and business growth.
- Build and optimize distributed data processing workflows using Databricks, Spark, Python, Snowflake, SQL, and modern cloud-based technologies.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into high-quality technical solutions within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Support the development of new data capabilities, tools, and frameworks that improve operational efficiency, profitability, and data accessibility.
- Contribute to data architecture, engineering standards, and best practices for processing, storing, and managing large-scale datasets.
- Troubleshoot complex data and performance issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to improve platform reliability.
- Develop reusable components, libraries, and automation that streamline data engineering processes and support continuous integration and deployment.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance efforts to ensure robust, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that strengthen the organization’s data ecosystem.
- Partner with engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions while maintaining clear communication across technical and business stakeholders.
Data Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field is required.
- 8–10+ years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related data-focused role.
- Prior experience supporting a large global consumer brand in a complex enterprise environment is required.
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, Snowflake, and SQL.
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and distributed data processing solutions.
- Familiarity with AI tools, machine learning initiatives, or data platforms supporting AI-driven solutions.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with finance-related data, business intelligence platforms, analytics tools, AWS, workflow orchestration tools, or Databricks/AWS certifications is a plus.
Compensation: Up to $66/hr. (DOE)
