Manual & CNC Lathe Operator
Our client is seeking a Manual & CNC Lathe Operator to join a growing manufacturing team focused on precision machining and quality craftsmanship. This role is ideal for individuals with experience operating manual and CNC lathes—or those with military machining experience, formal machinist training, or lathe-specific CNC experience—who are eager to expand their skills and grow into advanced machining, programming, or leadership opportunities. The successful candidate will combine technical precision, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to producing high-quality components in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
This role is on-site in Hubbard, Oregon working from 6AM-2:30PM.
Manual & CNC Lathe Operator Responsibilities
- Set up and operate both manual and CNC lathe machines to produce precision components that meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Perform turning, facing, threading, drilling, and other lathe machining operations using a variety of materials.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications to ensure accurate machine setup and part production.
- Monitor machining operations, make tooling and machine adjustments as needed, and verify finished parts through dimensional and visual inspections.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including tool changes, lubrication, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting to support reliable equipment performance.
- Maintain proper tooling, workholding, and material setup while ensuring efficient production workflows.
- Work closely with production and quality teams to meet manufacturing schedules while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Manual & CNC Lathe Operator Qualifications
- Experience ranging from early-career professionals through 6+ years of manual and/or CNC lathe machining experience is encouraged. Candidates with military machining experience, machinist school training, or lathe-focused CNC experience are welcome to apply.
- Experience setting up and operating manual and CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of machining tools, cutting materials, measuring equipment, and machining techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Basic machine maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Experience working independently while collaborating effectively within a production team.
- Familiarity with CNC programming, multi-axis machining, or aerospace manufacturing is a plus.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous learning in a manufacturing environment.
Salary: $25-$40/hr. (DOE)
