This role combines hands-on experience with traditional SQL Server data warehouse technologies and modern cloud platforms, offering the opportunity to contribute to an organization’s transition toward next-generation data architecture. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and passionate about building reliable, scalable data pipelines in a modern engineering environment.

This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in OR, WA, AK, AZ, ID, or TX.

Data Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate data from multiple internal and external sources into an enterprise data warehouse while ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Support and enhance an existing on-premises SQL Server data warehouse environment, including SSIS packages, SQL Agent jobs, stored procedures, and data transformation processes.
  • Contribute to cloud modernization initiatives by assisting with the migration of data platforms and pipelines to Snowflake and other modern cloud-based data technologies.
  • Develop and implement data quality, validation, and monitoring processes to maintain the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of enterprise data assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather data requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, and business operations.
  • Build and maintain data models and infrastructure that enable advanced analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile development practices, including documentation, code reviews, version control, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support enterprise business intelligence and data management initiatives while identifying opportunities to improve data engineering processes and platform performance.

Data Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • 1–5 years of experience developing and supporting enterprise data warehouse solutions using SQL Server and relational database technologies.
  • Strong SQL development skills, including complex query writing, stored procedures, database optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using technologies such as SSIS, SQL Agent, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or comparable ETL/ELT tools.
  • Experience supporting on-premises data warehouse environments with exposure to cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of relational database design, data modeling, and enterprise data management best practices.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and familiarity with source control and DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps and Git is preferred.
  • Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, SSRS, or SAS Enterprise Guide is preferred.
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python, R, or Java is a plus.
