CNC Programmer
Our client is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to support precision manufacturing operations by developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machining programs for a variety of complex components. This individual will collaborate closely with machining, engineering, quality, and production teams to improve efficiency, ensure machining accuracy, and support continuous process improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role is on-site in Hillsboro, Oregon working Monday through Thursday from 6AM-4:30PM.
CNC Programmer Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for vertical, horizontal, multi-axis, and 5-axis milling machines using Mastercam and other CAD/CAM software.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, models, and GD&T requirements to determine machining methods, tooling, and operational sequences.
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, speeds, and feeds to maximize machining performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Design fixtures and create detailed setup sheets, tooling documentation, and program records while maintaining proper revision control.
- Verify, troubleshoot, and refine CNC programs to ensure safe operation, dimensional accuracy, and consistent product quality.
- Partner with machinists, engineering, quality, purchasing, and leadership teams to resolve machining issues and support production objectives.
- Investigate nonconforming parts, identify root causes, and update programs or documentation to prevent recurring issues.
- Recommend process improvements that reduce cycle times, improve productivity, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.
- Provide setup time, run time, and manufacturability input to support estimating and quoting activities.
- Assist with machine setup, machining operations, and other production-related tasks as needed.
CNC Programmer Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience programming CNC mills using Mastercam (version 2020 or newer).
- Hands-on experience operating CNC milling equipment with the ability to program complex components from engineering drawings.
- Proven experience machining ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and plastics.
- Strong understanding of blueprint interpretation, GD&T, precision tolerances, and advanced machining practices.
- Experience programming and supporting multi-axis CNC milling operations, including 5-axis machining.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional manufacturing teams.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to producing high-quality work with dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Experience with High Efficiency Machining (HEM) and SolidCAM is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Salary: $80K-$95K/year. (DOE)
