SAP BASIS Specialist
Our client is seeking an experienced SAP BASIS Specialist to provide hands-on technical leadership and enterprise-level support for a highly complex SAP landscape spanning both cloud and on-premises environments. This role is ideal for a deeply technical infrastructure professional who excels in SAP architecture, platform administration, system optimization, and solving critical enterprise application challenges in a fast-paced, always-on environment.

This role is fully remote.

SAP BASIS Specialist Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary SAP BASIS administrator responsible for the health, stability, performance, and ongoing support of a large-scale enterprise SAP ecosystem.
• Provide technical administration and architectural support across SAP platforms including ECC, S/4HANA (cloud and on-premises), CRM, BW, BOBJ, PO, Fiori, SAP BTP, SAP CPI/CI/IS, SuccessFactors, SAP Analytics solutions, SAP Datasphere, Signavio, Cloud ALM, and related enterprise technologies.
• Lead SAP system installations, configurations, upgrades, patching, migrations, refreshes, backups, restorations, and version deployments across development, test, and production environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex SAP infrastructure, application, integration, and performance issues, serving as a primary escalation point for enterprise incidents.
• Coordinate patch management activities, including testing updates in non-production environments prior to deployment to ensure system integrity and business continuity.
• Perform SAP system monitoring, health checks, performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive issue identification to maintain optimal system performance.
• Support both SAP and select enterprise applications outside the SAP ecosystem, providing secondary administrative coverage as needed.
• Partner with infrastructure, network, security, application development, and business teams to resolve technical issues and support operational initiatives.
• Configure and maintain technical SAP system settings in alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and operational best practices.
• Administer SAP user access, security configurations, batch jobs, scheduled processes, scripts, and background job troubleshooting.
• Manage vendor relationships related to SAP support, maintenance, licensing, bug resolution, and technical escalations.
• Develop, maintain, and improve technical documentation including architecture diagrams, operational procedures, backup/recovery documentation, configuration records, and support inventories.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, validation, and documentation to ensure resilience of business-critical SAP platforms.
• Identify opportunities for automation, operational efficiencies, and process improvements within SAP administration and platform support functions.
• Evaluate software, infrastructure, and platform enhancements while providing technical recommendations for system optimization and scalability.
• Support desktop troubleshooting, user issue resolution, and knowledge transfer or training when needed.
• Provide status reporting, technical updates, issue tracking, and project progress communication to leadership and key stakeholders.
• Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and provide remote 24/7 on-call support for critical enterprise systems as required.

SAP BASIS Specialist Qualifications

• Minimum five years of hands-on SAP BASIS administration experience supporting enterprise SAP environments with both ABAP and Java stacks.
• Demonstrated experience supporting complex SAP ecosystems across both cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
• Proven experience supporting at least two enterprise SAP cloud implementation, upgrade, or migration initiatives, including S/4HANA migration programs and SAP RISE / Private Cloud Edition environments.
• Hands-on experience supporting SAP RISE (SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition) environments deployed within Azure.
• Strong technical experience administering SAP platforms including ECC6, S/4HANA, BW, CRM, BOBJ, PO, BPC, HANA, SAP BTP, SuccessFactors, Cloud Connector, Fiori/Gateway, SAP Analytics Cloud, Business Data Cloud, Datasphere, and Solution Manager.
• At least one year of experience supporting newer SAP cloud technologies such as SAP Integration Suite, Cloud ALM, Joule, DP Agent, Signavio, Cloud Identity Services, and related cloud-native SAP services.
• Experience with enterprise application lifecycle management including installation, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, documentation, maintenance, and environment coordination.
• Strong knowledge of operating systems and infrastructure platforms including Linux, UNIX, Windows, and AIX.
• Experience with SAP architecture design, system configuration, technical issue resolution, and enterprise platform optimization.
• Familiarity with SAP change management processes, transport management, and cloud/non-ABAP deployment practices.
• Experience with SAP system refresh processes and administration tools such as LAMA or similar refresh automation solutions is highly preferred.
• NetWeaver Java administration experience, including support for Adobe Document Services, Process Orchestration, or System Landscape Directory, is preferred.
• Knowledge of hyperscaler cloud infrastructure and SAP cloud platform architecture is strongly preferred.
• Current SAP certifications relevant to BASIS administration or cloud SAP environments are highly desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
• Ability to provide after-hours, weekend, and emergency production support for mission-critical systems.
