ServiceNow ITAM Engineer
Our client is seeking a ServiceNow ITAM Engineer to support the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of an enterprise IT Asset Management program. This role will play a key part in building and enhancing ITAM capabilities within ServiceNow, with a strong emphasis on CMDB strategy, data integrity, and process improvement. The ideal candidate brings a balance of functional expertise and technical knowledge, and thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon.

ServiceNow ITAM Engineer Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, enhancement, and governance of IT Asset Management processes within ServiceNow, with a strong focus on CMDB as the central source of truth.
  • Partner closely with internal teams, program leadership, and external vendors to support ITAM and SAM Pro implementation efforts and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Define, document, and continuously improve asset lifecycle processes, workflows, and data standards across hardware, software, and service assets.
  • Support CMDB architecture, including configuration item classes, relationships, and data quality standards to ensure accurate and reliable asset data.
  • Drive process design and refinement initiatives, identifying gaps and implementing scalable solutions to improve efficiency and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with ServiceNow developers and platform teams to translate business requirements into functional solutions without owning heavy hands-on development.
  • Contribute to data migration, normalization, and reconciliation efforts to maintain a high-quality asset inventory.
  • Assist in establishing governance frameworks, reporting, and dashboards to provide visibility into asset performance, compliance, and usage.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions, workshops, and working sessions to align on ITAM strategy and drive adoption across the organization.
  • Support ongoing optimization efforts, including audits, process enhancements, and continuous improvement of ITAM capabilities.

ServiceNow ITAM Engineer Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working within IT Asset Management, with a strong focus on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Hands-on experience configuring ServiceNow ITAM modules is required, including workflows, data models, and platform capabilities.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and governing CMDB structures and data relationships.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow ITAM, SAM Pro, and related ITSM/ITOM modules.
  • Experience with asset lifecycle management, process design, and workflow optimization in enterprise IT environments.
  • Familiarity with data quality practices, including normalization, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL frameworks and IT asset management best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead discussions and translate complex requirements into actionable solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Compensation: $65-$75/hr. (DOE)
