This role will serve as a testing subject matter expert, partnering with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership to develop testing strategies, execute comprehensive test plans, and ensure high-quality system releases. The ideal candidate is an experienced QA professional with strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of software testing methodologies, and the ability to drive continuous process improvement across complex projects.

This role is fully remote.

Senior Testing Consultant Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, execution, and oversight of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and quality assurance activities for complex enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Develop comprehensive testing strategies, test plans, test cases, requirements traceability matrices, and release readiness documentation to support successful project delivery.
  • Review business requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria to ensure completeness, clarity, and testability while identifying potential quality risks.
  • Execute and oversee manual testing, regression testing, integration testing, exploratory testing, and validation of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Analyze defects, coordinate defect triage activities, validate defect resolutions, and provide recommendations based on business impact and release priorities.
  • Define testing scope, quality gates, entry and exit criteria, and risk-based testing approaches for project releases.
  • Assess test coverage across business processes, integrations, user roles, data scenarios, and edge cases while identifying opportunities to improve overall quality.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, project managers, and vendors to support Agile and traditional project delivery methodologies.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and best practices to business testers and project teams while developing testing documentation, templates, and training materials.
  • Prepare test data, validate testing environments, monitor quality metrics, and communicate testing progress, risks, and release readiness to project leadership.
  • Partner with automation engineers to identify automation opportunities and support long-term improvements in testing efficiency and regression coverage.
  • Continuously evaluate testing processes, tools, and methodologies to improve quality, collaboration, and overall project outcomes.

Senior Testing Consultant Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience leading software testing, quality assurance, User Acceptance Testing, or related consulting engagements for enterprise technology projects.
  • Strong expertise in UAT methodologies, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum practices, and enterprise quality assurance processes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing test strategies, test plans, requirements traceability matrices, test cases, defect reports, test summaries, and release readiness documentation.
  • Extensive experience designing and executing complex test scenarios across cross-functional systems and business processes.
  • Strong knowledge of defect lifecycle management, risk-based testing, test coverage analysis, and release quality standards.
  • Experience using enterprise test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to identify project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, influence stakeholders, and advocate for quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Experience coordinating testing activities across business, technical, vendor, and project management teams in complex enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, security testing principles, performance testing considerations, and quality assurance best practices.
  • Experience working in government, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with test automation concepts and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Robot Framework is preferred.
  • Experience preparing and managing complex test data and a background in business analysis or broader quality assurance disciplines is a plus.
