Senior Data Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize data solutions supporting analytics and business intelligence initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data engineering within the finance industry, a deep understanding of distributed data systems, and exceptional SQL development skills.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Senior Data Engineer Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems that support analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate with product owners, analysts, and cross-functional partners to translate business requirements into technical solutions within an Agile/Scrum framework.
• Architect and implement efficient data frameworks and storage strategies for large-scale, high-volume datasets.
• Utilize Databricks, Spark, Python, and SQL to process, transform, and optimize data across multiple platforms.
• Develop and maintain reusable data tools, libraries, and utilities to streamline engineering processes.
• Ensure data quality, performance, and reliability through testing, validation, and monitoring.
• Contribute to the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies and frameworks related to big data processing.
• Implement CI/CD practices to automate and enhance deployment workflows.
• Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and perform root cause analysis to ensure system integrity.
• Work collaboratively across engineering and analytics teams to maintain consistent data standards and best practices.

Senior Data Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• 5–10 years of experience in data engineering or software development, with a focus on large-scale data processing.
• Proven expertise in SQL, including complex queries, performance tuning, and analytical functions.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Databricks.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) and version control systems (e.g., GitHub or Bitbucket).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative software development practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Preferred:

• Background in the finance sector or experience supporting financial data systems.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud environments.
• Knowledge of RESTful API development and data integration methods.
• Familiarity with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, HBase).

Compensation: Up to $60/hr. (DOE)
