Data Engineer
Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that supports business insights across their organization. This role is central to ensuring data pipelines and models are scalable, reliable, and optimized for performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong AWS expertise, hands-on data engineering experience, and the ability to collaborate with technical and business teams to drive data quality and accessibility.

This role is fully remote.

Data Engineer Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust batch and streaming pipelines using tools such as dbt, Kinesis Firehose, Airbyte, or Segment.
  • Design and refine data models that power reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with peers through code reviews and shared engineering best practices.
  • Evaluate system changes and communicate downstream impacts to stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance to teammates and promote effective use of enterprise data assets.
  • Support ad hoc initiatives by structuring data, performing analysis, and delivering insights.
  • Stay current on emerging tools, technologies, and methods to inform architectural decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and security standards while maintaining high data integrity.
  • Monitor performance and optimize queries, pipelines, and databases for efficiency.

Data Engineer Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with SQL and Python.
  • Proven, current experience with AWS services for data engineering and pipeline design.
  • Strong background in data warehousing, ETL development, and schema design.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and data modeling practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly.
  • Track record of success working in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

Preferred:

  • Experience with dbt and/or Looker.
  • Prior software or data engineering background.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
