Network Administrator II
Our client is seeking a hands-on Network Administrator to support day-to-day network operations in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving a wide range of real-time issues, interacting directly with users and teams, and continuously learning across network technologies. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and thrives in situations where not everything is scripted.
This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon.
Network Administrator II Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of support for network-related tickets, troubleshooting a wide variety of connectivity, performance, and access issues.
- Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring reliability and responsiveness across a dynamic environment.
- Configure and support network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve incidents and implement improvements.
- Provide customer-facing support, communicating clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Assist with network security tasks including firewall rule updates, segmentation, and vulnerability remediation.
- Contribute to scripting and diagnostic efforts, including use of tools such as packet sniffers for troubleshooting.
- Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, and standard processes to support team knowledge sharing.
- Participate in infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support occasional after-hours work tied to maintenance or issue resolution.
Network Administrator II Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in network administration within an enterprise environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across routing, switching, and general network connectivity issues.
- Experience with network devices and firewalls (Cisco preferred; exposure to Palo Alto or Fortinet is a plus).
- Experience with scripting or automation tools, as well as packet analysis tools (e.g., port sniffers).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ticket-driven environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills in a user-facing technical role.
- Ability to think critically and adapt in situations where solutions are not fully documented or predefined.
- Experience collaborating within a team-oriented environment and sharing knowledge across peers.
- Exposure to cloud or infrastructure environments (AWS, O365) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Compensation: $50-$57/hr. (DOE)
