Interim Accounting Manager
Our non-profit client is seeking an experienced and people-centered Accounting Manager on an interim basis. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to contributing to a purpose-driven organization focused on meaningful community impact.

This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon. Employees must live within the Portland/Vancouver Metro area.

Interim Accounting Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including supervising and reviewing the work of the team while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy of journal entries, reconciliations, and timely financial reporting.
  • Manage general ledger activities, financial analysis, and reporting, including variance review and communication of key insights to leadership.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and supporting audit readiness and execution.
  • Drive process improvements and cross-functional collaboration to enhance efficiency, data integrity, and overall financial operations.

Interim Accounting Manager Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct people management and team oversight.
  • Strong background in non-profit, fund, and grant accounting, including experience with restricted revenue and compliance reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and tools and advanced Excel.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, audit processes, and financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience); CPA a plus.

Compensation: $50-$65/hr. (DOE)
