Inpatient UM Clinician (Remote)
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and clinically driven Inpatient Utilization Management Clinician to support medical necessity reviews, care coordination, and inpatient case oversight in a fully remote environment. The ideal candidate combines strong critical thinking, regulatory awareness, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to promote quality outcomes and efficient transitions of care. This opportunity is well-suited for a Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is passionate about delivering appropriate, evidence-based healthcare services.

This role is fully remote with possible occasional travel.

Inpatient UM Clinician (Remote) Responsibilities

  • Evaluate inpatient admissions and continued stays to determine medical necessity and appropriate levels of care using established clinical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians, care teams, and healthcare facilities to support timely care decisions and effective discharge planning.
  • Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and quality standards.
  • Identify barriers to care progression and facilitate appropriate interventions to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and communicate review determinations to internal and external stakeholders.

Inpatient UM Clinician (Remote) Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Compact RN licensure preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of utilization management, utilization review, or related managed care experience.
  • Experience applying InterQual or other evidence-based clinical review criteria.
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in complex healthcare environments.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities with proficiency in remote work settings and healthcare technology platforms.
