Hardware Test Engineer
Our client is seeking a hands-on Hardware Test Engineer to support the verification and validation of advanced electronic systems used in rugged, real-world applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a lab environment, enjoys solving technical challenges independently, and takes pride in maintaining high-quality test execution and documentation. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering and validation teams to ensure products meet performance and reliability expectations.
This role is fully on-site in Dayton, Ohio.
Hardware Test Engineer Responsibilities:
- Independently execute verification and validation activities, including preparing test setups, assembling fixtures, creating wiring harnesses, and running established test procedures and scripts.
- Perform environmental and reliability testing, such as vibration and stress testing, to evaluate product performance under demanding operating conditions.
- Maintain accurate, organized test records and documentation to support project traceability and data integrity throughout the validation process.
- Identify, communicate, and appropriately escalate test anomalies, failures, or product concerns to validation leads and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Configure and maintain laboratory equipment, test infrastructure, and workflow tracking tools to support efficient testing activities.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project teams to coordinate testing priorities and contribute to successful program execution.
Hardware Test Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of three years of experience working within an electronics testing, validation, or laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated experience executing DVP&R activities and following structured validation processes.
- Proficiency using common electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
- Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to maintain accurate test data, records, and project documentation.
- Ability to work independently after initial training while exercising sound judgment in identifying and escalating issues.
- Experience using tools such as Jira or similar systems to track tasks, issues, and testing progress.
- Preferred experience with environmental chambers, data acquisition systems, or automated test execution.
- Familiarity with industry standards and protocols such as MIL-STD-810 or SAE J1939 is a plus.
- Hands-on electronics assembly, fixture fabrication, or soldering experience is highly desirable.
