General Manager – Mechanical Services
Our client is seeking an accomplished General Manager – Mechanical Services to lead an established commercial mechanical services operation and drive its next phase of profitable growth. This executive-level role offers significant autonomy and full ownership of business performance, with responsibility for strategy, financial results, operational excellence, customer relationships, and leadership development across service and construction operations.

This role is a hybrid model in Vancouver, Washington.

General Manager – Mechanical Services Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for commercial HVAC, mechanical service, maintenance, construction, and related building services operations.
  • Own full P&L performance, including revenue, budgeting, forecasting, pricing, profitability, labor utilization, and financial planning.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies that expand market share, recurring service revenue, customer relationships, and complementary service offerings.
  • Lead service, construction, project management, field, and administrative functions to improve execution, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate operational and financial performance using key metrics, job costing, forecasting, and workforce data to identify opportunities for improved profitability and efficiency.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership team while establishing clear expectations, accountability, and succession plans.
  • Strengthen relationships with key commercial and industrial customers while identifying opportunities to expand existing accounts and develop new business.
  • Oversee project delivery, workforce planning, scheduling, margin performance, and resource allocation across service and construction operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational consistency, scalability, and overall business performance.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture that balances growth and continuous improvement with respect for an established organization and workforce.
  • Maintain strong standards for workplace safety, regulatory compliance, quality, and professional service delivery.

General Manager – Mechanical Services Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience within commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, building services, specialty contracting, or a closely related commercial service environment.
  • Proven ownership of P&L performance, including revenue targets, budgets, forecasting, pricing, margins, and overall financial results for a substantial business unit.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems, service operations, preventive maintenance, and commercial building environments.
  • Experience leading both service and construction operations, with knowledge of project delivery, labor management, scheduling, job costing, and margin management.
  • Demonstrated success leading managers, supervisors, field personnel, and cross-functional teams across multiple operational departments.
  • Track record of improving profitability, productivity, workforce utilization, operational execution, and organizational accountability.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to interpret financial statements, operational dashboards, labor metrics, forecasts, and project performance data.
  • Experience developing leaders, building effective teams, managing organizational change, and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to develop lasting customer relationships and contribute to business development, market expansion, and recurring revenue growth.
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial leadership style with the ability to identify growth opportunities while remaining actively engaged with day-to-day business operations.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and decision-making skills with the ability to work effectively with field teams, customers, business leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience with design-build delivery, electrical services, multi-site operations, business integration, union workforces, or market expansion is preferred.

Salary: $180K-$210K/year + Bonus. (DOE)
