Engineering Specialist
Our client is seeking an Engineering Specialist to support complex engineering and compliance initiatives within a regulated utility environment. This role plays a critical part in organizing and analyzing large data sets, supporting construction and compliance projects, and ensuring accurate documentation and reporting across multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities.

This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon.

Engineering Specialist Responsibilities

  • Analyze and manage large, complex data sets to identify irregularities, resolve issues, and support engineering and compliance decision-making.
  • Coordinate and monitor multiple engineering and compliance-related projects, ensuring timelines, regulatory requirements, and internal processes are met.
  • Support pipeline and system compliance efforts by researching records, recommending improvements, and aligning with federal and regulatory standards.
  • Review construction, inspection, and compliance documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper record retention.
  • Generate reports and track inspection compliance through enterprise systems, providing insights and updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration across departments to gather project updates, assess progress, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Support contract administration, regulatory filings, and internal/external reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate current workflows and processes to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency gains, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and confidentiality across all assigned work.

Engineering Specialist Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in engineering support, project coordination, or utility operations.
  • Associate degree in a technical field, relevant certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of natural gas systems, pipeline operations, or similar utility infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting compliance, regulatory, or inspection-driven environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, along with experience using databases or enterprise systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of an organization.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.
