Director of Data Product and Growth Strategy
Our client is seeking a Director of Data Product and Growth Strategy to shape the company’s next phase of growth. This high-impact individual contributor role focuses on identifying new verticals, taking data products to market, and opening new revenue streams. The ideal candidate combines deep data expertise with sharp commercial judgment and a strong command of regulatory and compliance environments.
This role is fully remote.
Director of Data Product and Growth Strategy Responsibilities
- Identify, validate, and size new verticals, categories, and data product offerings that expand the company’s addressable market.
- Build and present investment-ready business cases, supported by financial models developed with the finance team, that give executive leadership a clear basis for funding decisions.
- Define pricing, packaging, and distribution strategy for new and existing data offerings, using hands-on analysis of large datasets to support recommendations.
- Recommend build, buy, or partner paths for each market opportunity, including the partner profile and commercial terms required.
- Conduct structured customer discovery, win/loss analysis, and competitive tracking to turn market signals into evidence-based strategy.
- Establish a repeatable process for collecting market intelligence and moving it upward to executive leadership and downward into product roadmaps.
- Own the multi-quarter product vision and portfolio direction, handing validated opportunities to product management and engineering for execution.
- Develop positioning and competitive guidance for sales and marketing teams.
- Partner with policy, compliance, and research teams to uncover product opportunities created by regulatory change.
- Engage enterprise and channel partners to understand how the market perceives current offerings and where partnerships can expand.
Director of Data Product and Growth Strategy Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in product strategy, corporate strategy, product management, or business development, including exposure to B2B SaaS, fintech, regtech, compliance, or trust and safety environments.
- Direct experience monetizing data, including ownership of a data product that was sold or licensed externally, whether launching a new offering or growing the pricing, packaging, and revenue of an established data feed business.
- Strong data background and hands-on fluency, including writing SQL and working in Python within platforms such as Databricks and Power BI to assess dataset size, coverage, and field quality.
- Working knowledge of the data broker landscape and of what AI developers and detection system operators require from third-party data, including coverage, accuracy, freshness, schema utility, and batch and real-time API delivery.
- Deep knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, including the legal and contractual limits on data licensing such as permitted use, provenance, and privacy, and sound judgment on when to involve legal counsel.
- Experience negotiating and structuring data licensing and data-sharing agreements, including commercial terms, usage rights, and exclusivity.
- Proven financial modeling skills, including market sizing, pricing analysis, unit economics, and investment cases.
- Ability to structure ambiguous commercial questions, build the supporting analysis, and defend conclusions in front of executive audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data products to non-technical buyers through concise, precise documents.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, research, sales, and leadership without formal authority.
Preferred:
- Background in strategy consulting at an analytically rigorous firm, followed by experience operating within a company.
- Experience leading AI transformation at a software company, including product repositioning, pricing and unit-economics changes, and distinguishing lasting AI advantage from table stakes.
- Domain experience in payments, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, supplements, financial crime, marketplaces, or advertising platforms.
Salary: $220K-$230K/year + Bonus. (DOE)
