Data Product Manager
Our client is seeking a Data Product Manager to guide a broad portfolio of enterprise data products that power marketing, digital, and member experience initiatives. In this role, you will balance committed delivery with ongoing sustainment work across multiple concurrent efforts. You will serve as a trusted subject-matter resource who turns complex data into reusable, well-documented assets for both people and emerging AI-driven consumers.
This role is a hybrid model. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, North Dakota, Arkansas, or Minnesota.
Data Product Manager Responsibilities
- Trace and analyze complex data flows from source systems through ingestion, curated layers, and downstream consumption, using SQL to profile, reconcile, and validate data.
- Investigate unfamiliar datasets to uncover business rules, relationships, and quality issues, and translate findings into clear business implications and recommended next steps.
- Design reusable enterprise data products that serve multiple consumers and use cases, keeping core business logic separate from consumer-specific needs.
- Create and maintain reference-quality documentation, including source-to-target mappings, field definitions, transformation rules, lineage, acceptance criteria, and validation plans.
- Partner with product, engineering, architecture, source-system teams, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, and bring clarity to ambiguous needs.
- Assess how source-system, schema, population, or business-rule changes affect existing products and downstream consumers, and proactively flag dependencies, gaps, and risks.
- Support data migration, integration, and modernization efforts while preserving existing functionality.
- Lead test scenarios, reconciliation, UAT, and production validation to confirm accuracy and completeness.
- Manage multiple initiatives at once, maintaining continuity as priorities shift.
- Capture institutional knowledge in durable, repeatable artifacts, and cross-train across several data products and domains.
- Explore how semantic layers, AI assistants, and agentic workflows are changing the way enterprise data should be structured, described, and governed.
Data Product Manager Qualifications
- Advanced SQL and data analysis skills, including complex multi-table querying, data profiling, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and data quality assessment.
- Advanced experience creating and interpreting detailed source-to-target mappings, defining field-level transformations, business rules, keys, and relationships, and understanding data lineage across batch, file, vendor, database, and event-driven sources.
- Proven experience designing flexible, extensible enterprise data products for reuse, with familiarity in dimensional and semantic modeling.
- Strong data validation, testing, and reconciliation skills, including record-count validation, duplicate detection, and support of UAT and production troubleshooting.
- Exceptional technical documentation and requirements skills, with the ability to turn fragmented input from SMEs, code, and data into a complete, coherent specification. Experience with tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, Jira, or Smartsheet.
- Working to intermediate knowledge of Snowflake, including navigating schemas, tables, views, and roles across enterprise environments.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the confidence to ask detailed questions and raise quality concerns constructively.
- Meticulous attention to detail and follow-through from discovery through implementation.
- Comfort working through ambiguity and quickly learning complex data domains, undocumented business rules, and new technologies.
- Working knowledge of semantic layers, AI-ready data products, and AI-assisted development tools such as Snowflake Cortex, with the discipline to independently validate results.
- Working knowledge of event-driven architectures, APIs, and JSON or other semi-structured data.
- Python experience for profiling, reconciliation, or automation is a plus.
- A degree is not required. Demonstrated ability to solve complex data problems and learn quickly matters most.
Preferred:
- Experience integrating new populations or businesses following an acquisition, affiliation, or migration, including reconciling populations across disparate source systems and extending existing data products rather than building parallel solutions.
- Healthcare payer experience, including member and eligibility, medical and pharmacy claims, provider, and product or benefit data.
- Experience with marketing and member experience data, such as audience segmentation, member communications, contact information, preferences and consent, outreach history, and digital engagement.
- Experience with Kafka or comparable event-streaming technologies, and with integrating external or vendor data into enterprise platforms.
- Exposure to healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR or HL7.
- Exposure to metadata-driven data products, AI assistants, or agentic workflows, and an interest in preparing enterprise data for AI-assisted consumption.
