Controller (Construction) 
Our client is seeking an experienced, people-focused Controller who combines strong accounting expertise with a thoughtful and approachable leadership style. This individual will lead a high-volume accounting operation, partner closely with leadership, and create clarity across complex job costing and financial reporting environments. 

This role is onsite in Vancouver, Washington.

Controller Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting function, supervising and developing a team of approximately 8 direct reports. 
• Own month-end close, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and ongoing financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee job cost accounting activities, including WIP analysis, project costing, prevailing wage tracking, and commission calculations.
• Manage audit preparation and ongoing compliance, including coordination with external auditors and oversight of local tax filings including sales and use tax. 
• Provide financial leadership across AP, AR, collections, payroll, cash flow, and multi-entity accounting operations, supporting continuous process improvement.

Controller Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including service as a Controller or senior accounting leader within a mid-sized organization.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring an accounting team of 5+ direct reports. 
• Must have experience with project-based accounting in construction, AEC, or a closely related industry.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, audit management, and financial reporting, with proficiency in ERP systems and intermediate to advanced Excel. 

Salary: $120K-140K/year + Bonus (DOE)
