BI Developer
Our client is seeking a BI Developer to join their Health portfolio team. Following recent organizational changes, they need additional technical talent to support several major capital projects in the health space. This role will work closely with business customers and technical staff to design, build, and support business intelligence solutions, while contributing across the full software development lifecycle.

This role is fully remote.

BI Developer Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain moderate to complex application, data, and reporting solutions in an n-tier environment.
  • Write and maintain code using structured programming methods, following source control and build standards.
  • Design data models and data delivery solutions, including batch, synchronous, and asynchronous processes and interfaces.
  • Partner with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements and document business needs, with a focus on BI.
  • Contribute to system architecture, technical design, and test planning for medium to large projects.
  • Perform unit, integration, load, and regression testing, and verify that defects are resolved.
  • Track, troubleshoot, and resolve application and system issues, and provide ongoing post-implementation support.
  • Manage releases by following established promotion, deployment, and change control processes.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, including data dictionaries.
  • Provide technical guidance on small to moderately complex projects, including estimating work, prioritizing tasks, and reporting on status.
  • Apply security and privacy standards to protect sensitive health data.
  • Research industry trends and recommend improvements to functionality, performance, and technology.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to evaluate options and support sound decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BI Developer Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software or BI development.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server and Oracle, including T-SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Hands-on experience building stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
  • Proficiency with ETL tools such as SSIS or Informatica.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau, SSRS, or Crystal Reports.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture and design, including normalized and dimensional models and OLAP.
  • Working knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements through implementation.
  • Experience with source control and deployment practices, such as Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with bug tracking, debugging, and incident management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and data modeling tools such as ERwin or Visio.
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and XML.
  • Familiarity with web services and service-oriented architecture.
  • Experience with job scheduling and file transfer tools such as AutoSys, SQL Server Agent, and SFTP.
  • Ability to assess business needs and recommend technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a health or public sector environment is a plus.
