Senior Project Management Consultant (Part-Time)
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Management Consultant (Part-Time) to lead a short-term process strategy and project management transformation initiative within a complex marketing and communications environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned consultant who can quickly assess cross-functional workflows, build stakeholder alignment, and translate an established strategic framework into a practical, implementation-ready operating model. The consultant will combine strategic advisory skills with hands-on execution to prepare the organization for a successful Asana implementation and long-term adoption.
This role is a hybrid model in Boston, Massachusetts working around 20 hours per week.
Senior Project Management Consultant Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing project workflows, stakeholder requirements, and established planning frameworks to identify process gaps, redundancies, dependencies, and opportunities for greater cross-functional alignment.
- Design a scalable project management operating model that standardizes how work is requested, prioritized, assigned, approved, tracked, and reported across multiple functions.
- Translate business processes and stakeholder requirements into a detailed, build-ready Asana implementation blueprint.
- Define recommended Asana workspace architecture, project structures, task hierarchies, custom fields, intake forms, approval workflows, reporting dashboards, and related configuration requirements.
- Document current-state workflows and develop clear future-state processes that can be directly translated into platform configuration.
- Facilitate working sessions with cross-functional stakeholders and functional leaders to validate requirements, resolve process questions, and build consensus around the future-state model.
- Identify configuration and process decisions requiring leadership approval and organize recommendations to support efficient decision-making and sign-off.
- Partner with the Asana implementation/onboarding team during the platform build, providing context, answering questions, and clarifying functional requirements and design intent.
- Review configured workflows against the approved blueprint, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and recommend adjustments prior to launch.
- Establish governance standards for ongoing platform and process management, including ownership, naming conventions, change controls, and periodic reviews.
- Develop practical documentation and knowledge-transfer materials that enable internal teams to maintain and evolve the operating model after the engagement.
- Support change management and adoption by helping stakeholders understand new processes, responsibilities, and ways of working ahead of implementation.
Senior Project Management Consultant Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in project/program management, process transformation, implementation consulting, or a related discipline within marketing, communications, digital, or creative environments.
- Significant agency experience managing multiple concurrent projects and workstreams across different disciplines, stakeholders, and priorities.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Asana, including workspace and project architecture, workflow configuration, custom fields, forms, approvals, dashboards, and reporting; Asana certification or comparable expertise is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience converting business requirements, organizational strategy, and stakeholder input into detailed implementation plans, system specifications, or build-ready solution blueprints.
- Experience leading process assessment, workflow redesign, operating model development, and change management initiatives within complex organizations.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project management approaches, with the judgment to recommend methodologies based on business and workflow needs.
- Proven ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions, influence stakeholders without direct authority, and drive decisions in environments with competing priorities.
- Experience successfully leading complex initiatives with distributed or remote stakeholders while maintaining accountability, communication, and project momentum.
- Excellent requirements gathering, process documentation, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Self-directed and consultative, with the ability to quickly assess an established environment and deliver practical recommendations within a short engagement.
- Experience supporting healthcare, regulated organizations, or similarly complex enterprise environments is a plus.
