Description
Job Id: 73096
Scrum Master
Our client is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to take ownership of Agile delivery for a large-scale data platform initiative currently in progress. This role is ideal for a self-directed Agile leader who can quickly integrate with an established technical team, maintain momentum through a transition, and bring structure and visibility to complex data-focused work. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting data or analytics initiatives, strong Azure DevOps expertise, and the ability to lead a team effectively with minimal ramp-up time.
This role is on-site in Dallas, Texas.
Scrum Master Responsibilities
- Assume Scrum Master ownership for an active, large-scale data platform initiative, quickly learning current priorities, sprint activity, backlog status, team dynamics, and work already underway.
- Lead Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, while keeping a cross-functional team aligned and moving toward delivery goals.
- Partner closely with product and technical stakeholders to organize, prioritize, and assign stories, maintain a healthy backlog, and ensure sprint commitments are realistic and clearly understood.
- Manage sprint and project activity within Azure DevOps, including boards, stories, backlogs, sprint tracking, reporting, and delivery metrics.
- Identify delivery risks, dependencies, and impediments early and work proactively with team members and stakeholders to resolve issues before they affect project timelines.
- Evaluate existing Agile practices and recommend targeted improvements to sprint execution, workflow management, project visibility, and team effectiveness.
- Implement process improvements thoughtfully and incrementally while maintaining continuity for a team already operating within established sprint cycles.
- Track and communicate delivery progress, sprint performance, velocity, burndown, and other relevant metrics to technical and business stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration across data, technology, product, operations, and business teams to support successful delivery of platform capabilities.
- Provide structure and accountability within a distributed environment while encouraging team ownership, effective communication, and continuous improvement.
Scrum Master Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master within Agile technology environments, with broader experience supporting IT or software delivery initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale data, analytics, data platform, or similarly complex technical projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including backlog administration, story and board management, sprint tracking, and reporting.
- Proven ability to step into an established project already in progress, quickly understand the delivery environment, and independently assume Scrum Master responsibilities.
- Experience working with data engineering, analytics, reporting, or data platform teams and familiarity with the delivery lifecycle for data-focused solutions.
- Strong facilitation and organizational skills with the ability to lead Agile ceremonies, manage competing priorities, and keep cross-functional teams focused on delivery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to translate project status, risks, and Agile metrics for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience identifying opportunities to improve Agile processes and successfully introducing changes that strengthen team efficiency and delivery predictability.
- Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred, particularly within technology, data, or other complex regulated environments.
- Experience supporting remote or distributed teams in fast-paced project environments.
- CSM, PSM, or a comparable Agile/Scrum certification is preferred.
