Merchandise Planner
Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Merchandise Planner to support seasonal product planning and inventory optimization across a dynamic retail business. This highly visible role partners with cross-functional teams to develop data-driven strategies that maximize product performance, improve inventory health, and support financial objectives. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys translating data into actionable business insights, and excels at managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Merchandise Planner Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute seasonal merchandise plans that optimize inventory, sales performance, and profitability across assigned product categories.
  • Monitor in-season business performance, recommend inventory, pricing, and transition strategies, and adjust plans based on changing business needs.
  • Analyze sales, inventory, and market data to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and communicate actionable insights to business partners.
  • Collaborate closely with merchandising, allocation, planning, finance, retail, and cross-functional stakeholders to align product and financial strategies.
  • Support forecasting, financial planning, and inventory management activities across multiple seasons while balancing short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and planning tools that support informed business decisions and operational excellence.
  • Partner with internal teams to manage product lifecycle activities, including inventory optimization, seasonal transitions, and assortment planning.
  • Present planning recommendations through clear, compelling data storytelling that influences business decisions.

Merchandise Planner Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in merchandise planning, retail planning, allocation, inventory planning, or a related retail planning function.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience supporting planning initiatives within a retail environment, preferably focused on brick-and-mortar operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret business metrics, identify trends, and develop data-driven planning strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience partnering across multiple functional teams.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and perform well in an evolving, fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity while maintaining focus on business objectives and delivering results.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools or working with large, complex data sets is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Compensation: Up to $42.25/hr. (DOE)
