Software Engineer
Our client is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support the development of advanced real-time software solutions within a highly technical engineering environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented problem solver who thrives in complex systems development, enjoys collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and brings a strong foundation in embedded software engineering, model-based design, and high-quality code development.

This role is on-site in Dayton, Ohio.

Software Engineer Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and enhance software applications for complex real-time systems and new product development initiatives.
• Develop and maintain software solutions using C++ and MATLAB/Simulink, including both object-oriented and model-based programming approaches.
• Collaborate closely with software developers, test engineers, and technical subject matter experts to integrate control system software into broader application architectures.
• Create and maintain tools that support software development workflows, data processing, validation, and deployment activities.
• Develop, execute, and document test cases to ensure software reliability, performance, and adherence to quality standards.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with software engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across multiple layers of the software stack in a structured and efficient manner.
• Participate effectively within established engineering processes while supporting additional technical initiatives as needed.

Software Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on development of real-time embedded or control-based software products.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and MATLAB/Simulink, including experience with model-based software development.
• Experience supporting guidance, navigation, control systems, control logic, or other real-time decisioning/embedded software environments.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and version control tools such as Git.
• Working knowledge of linear algebra and its application within software development or control systems environments.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and apply strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across local and global technical teams.
• Experience with JavaScript or Angular for user interface integration is a plus.
