Lead Technical Designer – Apparel (Pattern & Sample Engineering)
Our client is seeking a hands-on apparel technical leader who can translate creative vision into precision-built garments through expert patternmaking and sample construction. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced studio environment, blending craftsmanship, technical problem-solving, and collaboration to bring innovative product concepts to life. The ideal candidate brings both deep technical skill and the agility to support evolving design and development needs.
This role is fully onsite in Beaverton, Oregon.
Lead Technical Designer – Apparel Responsibilities
- Engineer, modify, and validate garment patterns that reflect design intent and fit standards.
- Cut, sew, and assemble premium apparel samples using industrial sewing and embroidery equipment.
- Partner closely with design, technical design, and product development teams to deliver accurate prototypes.
- Troubleshoot construction, fit, and material challenges while proposing technical solutions.
- Support studio workflows, documentation, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
Lead Technical Designer – Apparel Qualifications
- 5–10 years of advanced patternmaking and sample sewing experience within the apparel industry.
- Demonstrated ability to physically construct garments using sewing and embroidery machines.
- Strong proficiency with Optitex, flat patterning systems, and Adobe-based design tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Textile Science, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven ability to interpret design concepts, manage multiple projects, and collaborate in a studio setting.
Compensation: Up to $55/hr. (DOE)
