Risk Coordinator
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Risk Coordinator to support day-to-day risk management and compliance activities within a regulated healthcare environment. This role plays a key part in identifying, documenting, and responding to workplace incidents, patient concerns, and safety risks while partnering closely with risk and compliance leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong investigative skills, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
This role is a hybrid model in Tigard, Oregon.
Risk Coordinator Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of coordination for incident and grievance intake, investigation, documentation, and follow-up.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of incident reporting data, including trend identification and summary reporting.
- Conduct investigations and resolution activities for lower-level incidents, escalating more complex matters with supporting documentation.
- Engage with patients and staff to gather information, clarify concerns, and manage entries within the incident reporting system.
- Prepare incident, grievance, privacy, and risk trend reports to support leadership review and decision-making.
- Support safety and risk committees through meeting coordination, documentation, and follow-up actions.
- Assist with the planning and execution of safety drills, tabletop exercises, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Maintain and audit learning and training systems to support compliance with required education and certifications.
- Support risk and compliance audits by gathering documentation, preparing data, and tracking follow-up actions.
- Monitor departmental inboxes and reporting channels to ensure timely responses to concerns, privacy issues, and inquiries.
- Collaborate with risk and compliance leadership on departmental initiatives, process improvements, and ongoing operational needs.
- Perform recurring audits and administrative tasks related to risk, compliance, and quality programs, as assigned.
Risk Coordinator Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Two to three years of experience handling complaints, investigations, or issue resolution in a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, synthesize information, and document findings clearly and objectively.
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of risk management principles, quality standards, and safety practices.
- Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations related to quality, safety, and privacy.
- Proven ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with individuals regarding sensitive or confidential matters.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and work within electronic health record systems; prior exposure is preferred.
- Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or emotionally charged situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
