Vice President of Operations
Our client is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Operations to provide strategic and hands-on leadership across a multi-community senior living organization. This role is designed for an experienced executive who understands senior living from the inside out and brings both operational rigor and genuine empathy for residents and staff. The Vice President of Operations will oversee multiple functional leaders and play a critical role in shaping the organization’s long-term growth.

This role is based on-site in the Portland metro area.

Vice President of Operations Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level leadership across community operations, overseeing regional and functional leaders to ensure consistency, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Translate organizational strategy into actionable plans, measurable outcomes, and scalable operational practices across all communities.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership and the board to support long-term planning, organizational growth initiatives, and enterprise-wide decision-making.
  • Lead financial stewardship efforts, including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and identifying opportunities to improve operational performance.
  • Establish, monitor, and refine key performance indicators to drive accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Support the successful launch, stabilization, and optimization of new and existing communities through strong operational frameworks.
  • Develop, mentor, and retain senior leaders while building succession plans that support long-term organizational stability.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, safety standards, and risk mitigation practices are consistently upheld across all operations.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between the corporate office and community leadership, ensuring alignment, communication, and execution.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, using data, feedback, and industry insights to enhance resident experience and operational effectiveness.

Vice President of Operations Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Operational Leadership roles; 5+ years of experience in a VP of Operations role in the senior living industry.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations and complex organizational structures.
  • Proven ability to scale teams, systems, and processes to support sustained growth.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and long-term planning.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and risk management requirements within senior living.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, healthcare administration, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills with a people-first mindset.

Salary: $200K-$250K + potential bonus. (DOE)
