Trade Service Associate
Our client is seeking a Trade Service Associate to support international banking operations by processing trade finance transactions and providing day-to-day operational and technical support. This role works closely with a senior team and plays a key part in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high service standards across international trade activities.
This role is onsite in San Francisco, California.
Trade Service Associate Responsibilities
- Process international trade transactions, including letters of credit, amendments, documentary collections, and related trade finance instruments.
- Manage daily transactional volume, initially handling multiple transactions per day and scaling to higher volume as proficiency increases.
- Review trade finance documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and global trade regulations.
- Support risk management and quality control efforts by following established controls and escalation procedures.
- Assist with workflow coordination, prioritization of requests, and resolution of operational issues.
- Provide technical and procedural support to internal partners and clients regarding international trade services.
- Monitor customer exposure and ensure activity aligns with approved credit terms.
- Collaborate with a team of senior associates and leaders to maintain service consistency and operational efficiency.
- Participate in ongoing training to build broader knowledge of international banking products and practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
Trade Service Associate Qualifications
- 7-10 years of professional banking experience, with exposure to operations, trade services, or international banking functions.
- Hands-on experience processing or supporting trade finance products such as letters of credit, documentary collections, or trade-related lending.
- Working knowledge of international trade regulations and governing rules related to letters of credit and documentary collections.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Ability to manage transactional workloads in a deadline-driven environment.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across teams.
- Proficiency with standard business software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
Compensation: $32-$40/hr. (DOE)
