SPPM Implementation Project Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced SPPM Implementation Project Manager to lead the selection and deployment of a new enterprise Strategic Portfolio and Project Management platform. This high-visibility role requires a polished leader who can engage Senior Vice Presidents through project-level stakeholders while directing supporting project managers. The ideal candidate brings deep experience guiding enterprise tool selection, managing accelerated timelines, and ensuring seamless data migration within complex, matrixed environments.

Portland, Oregon-based candidates are preferred for onsite collaboration, though remote consultants with availability for key onsite engagements will be considered. Travel will be reimbursed.

SPPM Implementation Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide requirements gathering and facilitate structured workshops across executive leadership, IT, finance, operations, PMO, and other key stakeholders.
  • Translate strategic, operational, and regulatory needs into detailed functional and technical requirements to support evaluation and selection of a long-term SPPM solution.
  • Guide vendor evaluation, demo orchestration, scoring, and final platform selection while advising on governance, scalability, and risk considerations.
  • Oversee full implementation, configuration, and deployment of the selected SPPM tool within an accelerated timeline.
  • Direct data migration efforts from Microsoft Project Online, ensuring preservation, validation, and continuity of historical portfolio and project data.
  • Provide leadership and coordination to supporting project managers contributing to implementation efforts.
  • Establish portfolio governance frameworks and reporting structures that increase visibility into initiatives, timelines, risks, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and execute training, onboarding, and change enablement strategies to ensure long-term adoption and sustainability.

SPPM Implementation Project Manager Qualifications

  • 7+ years of enterprise project or portfolio management experience, including direct leadership of SPPM tool selection and implementation initiatives.
  • Proven experience migrating from Microsoft Project Online or similar legacy portfolio systems to modern enterprise platforms.
  • Demonstrated success working with executive leadership and senior stakeholders in large, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to drive consensus across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience directing or mentoring other project managers in complex program environments.
  • Expertise in enterprise portfolio governance, reporting frameworks, and strategic initiative tracking.
  • Background in healthcare or other highly regulated industries strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage accelerated timelines while balancing risk, compliance, and operational continuity.

Compensation: $100-$120/hr. (DOE)
