Software Quality Engineer 3 (NQA-1)
Our client is seeking a Software Quality Engineer 3 (NQA-1) to support a high-impact initiative focused on strengthening and modernizing software quality programs within a regulated engineering environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with nuclear quality standards while partnering cross-functionally to enhance procedures, documentation, and overall program effectiveness.

This role is fully remote with possible occasional travel.

Software Quality Engineer 3 (NQA-1) Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive evaluations of existing software quality programs to ensure alignment with NQA-1 (2008/2009a and 2022) standards.
  • Develop, update, and maintain software plans, procedures, and work instructions to meet regulatory and industry compliance requirements.
  • Drive improvements to software lifecycle processes supporting engineering design, analysis, procurement, and document control activities.
  • Provide subject matter guidance to cross-functional teams on software quality standards, regulatory expectations, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align processes, resolve gaps, and implement scalable quality solutions across multiple workstreams.

Software Quality Engineer 3 (NQA-1) Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience supporting nuclear quality assurance programs, with a strong focus on NQA-1 standards.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining documentation aligned with NQA-1, IEEE software standards, and applicable regulatory guides.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and compliant procedural documentation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, prioritize competing demands, and work effectively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or 10+ years of directly relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience within commercial nuclear or highly regulated industries; familiarity with ASME BPVC Section III programs is a plus.
  • Eligibility to work under applicable U.S. Department of Energy regulations (10 CFR Part 810).
