Senior SCADA Project Manager
Our client is seeking a Senior SCADA Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of a large-scale SCADA platform implementation and legacy system transition. This role will drive the full project lifecycle, ensuring operational continuity, system integrity, and alignment with cybersecurity and regulatory expectations. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, technically fluent project leader who is comfortable navigating complex system migrations, vendor coordination, and cross-functional environments.
This role is onsite in Portland, Oregon.
Senior SCADA Project Manager Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of a new SCADA platform, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality management.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive migration and cutover strategy to transition from legacy systems while maintaining operational stability.
- Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, IT, OT, cybersecurity, vendors, and operational teams.
- Oversee system transition activities, including data migration, interface mapping, point verification, and continuity planning.
- Drive project governance processes, including status reporting, risk management, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication.
- Direct integration efforts involving PLCs, RTUs, historians, alarms, and interoperability validation.
- Lead system validation phases such as FAT, SAT, redundancy testing, failover verification, and user acceptance testing.
- Partner with technical and operational teams to support system design, network considerations, and compliance requirements.
- Support commissioning, operational readiness, and training activities to ensure successful system adoption.
- Manage vendor relationships, deliverables, and performance against project milestones and acceptance criteria.
- Monitor cutover execution, stabilize post-deployment performance, and ensure timely issue resolution.
- Oversee documentation, knowledge transfer, and transition to steady-state support and maintenance teams.
Senior SCADA Project Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of project management experience within industrial automation, utilities, infrastructure, manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Proven experience managing SCADA, DCS, or industrial control system implementations or modernization initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise in system migration, cutover planning, and operational continuity management.
- Strong understanding of SCADA and OT/ICS environments, including networking, system architecture, and reliability considerations.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity and high-availability principles within operational technology ecosystems.
- Experience coordinating vendors, integrators, and technical delivery partners.
- Strong risk management, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- PMP, Agile, or comparable project management certification preferred.
- Direct SCADA project experience is required.
