Senior Project Manager
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead large, high-impact energy infrastructure initiatives from early planning through construction and closeout. This role partners closely with engineering, operations, and external partners to deliver complex projects safely, on time, and within budget while meeting strict regulatory and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings deep utility or energy experience, strong project controls, and the ability to drive execution in a highly regulated environment.
This role is onsite in Portland, Oregon. Applicants will be required to occasionally travel to client sites.
Senior Project Manager Responsibilities
- Lead complex gas infrastructure projects through full lifecycle delivery, from planning and design through construction and commissioning.
- Own project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and change management to ensure scope, cost, and timeline alignment.
- Coordinate internal engineering, operations, and external consultants and contractors to deliver project milestones.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements across all project phases.
- Manage permitting, inspections, RFIs, submittals, and technical documentation to support construction readiness.
- Identify, track, and mitigate project risks while resolving issues that could impact delivery.
- Oversee vendor and contractor performance, including schedules, deliverables, and Statements of Work.
- Provide clear direction to project teams and lead regular status meetings, reporting, and portfolio updates.
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Support and improve PMO tools, standards, and best practices to strengthen overall project execution.
Senior Project Manager Qualifications
- 7+ years of project management experience delivering large, mission-critical projects in gas, utility, or energy environments.
- Strong working knowledge of gas pipelines, compressor stations, storage facilities, and related infrastructure.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, risks, and change control on complex capital programs.
- Experience with engineering and construction contracts, including RFPs, EPC, and other delivery models.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
- PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
- Familiarity with permitting processes, regulatory compliance, and safety standards in regulated utility projects.
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills at all organizational levels.
- Ability to travel to project sites within the service territory and perform onsite project oversight as needed.
