Senior Facilities Engineer (Mechanical)
Our client is seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer (Mechanical) to lead mechanical engineering and capital project initiatives within a complex, large-scale manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles combined with practical project execution skills, supporting equipment installations, system improvements, and facility upgrades. The ideal candidate is analytical, technically grounded, and comfortable managing projects while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
This role is onsite in Cudahy, Wisconsin.
Senior Facilities Engineer (Mechanical) Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering activities for capital equipment and facility-related projects of moderate to high complexity and investment scope.
- Perform and apply engineering analyses, including stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA), to validate designs, modifications, and equipment performance.
- Manage full project lifecycles including scope development, budgeting, vendor engagement, procurement coordination, installation, and startup.
- Develop and review technical drawings, layouts, and engineering documentation supporting new equipment installations and mechanical upgrades.
- Partner with external vendors and contractors to obtain quotes, evaluate proposals, and support capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including electrical, operations, quality, and design teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Investigate mechanical, equipment, or system-related issues and recommend engineered solutions, redesigns, or corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, project documentation, and technical correspondence.
Senior Facilities Engineer (Mechanical) Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is required.
- Typically 5–7 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, preferably within heavy manufacturing, industrial production, or large-scale equipment environments; 2–3 years of highly relevant mechanical engineering experience supporting capital projects or equipment installations will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience supporting capital projects, equipment upgrades, or facility improvements involving structured budgeting and cost controls.
- Hands-on experience performing or applying stress analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), or similar engineering validation methods.
- Ability to balance mechanical engineering design responsibilities with project coordination and execution activities.
- Experience working with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional technical teams.
- Proficiency with common engineering and project tools (e.g., CAD software, Microsoft Project, Excel, or similar platforms).
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and sound engineering judgment.
Salary: $110K-$130K/year. (DOE)
