Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to play a hands-on leadership role in advancing a hybrid environment toward a modern, cloud-first architecture. This individual will serve as both a strategic contributor and technical coach, helping define the Azure roadmap, guiding cloud migrations from on-premises infrastructure, and partnering with both technical teams and executive stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.

This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon.

Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build, and evolution of Azure infrastructure supporting enterprise workloads, with a strong focus on scalability, security, and resiliency.
• Drive on-premises to Azure migration efforts, including assessment, planning, and execution within a hybrid environment.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring consistency, repeatability, and long-term maintainability.
• Act as a technical advisor to leadership, translating complex cloud concepts into clear, business-level explanations for non-technical audiences.
• Help define and influence the organization’s cloud strategy and migration roadmap, proactively identifying improvements and risks.
• Operate in a player/coach capacity by mentoring team members and strengthening internal Azure and cloud expertise.
• Collaborate with security, DevOps, and application teams to align infrastructure with governance, compliance, and operational best practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Azure environments for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience designing and supporting Azure infrastructure in production environments.
• Strong background in hybrid architectures, including migrating workloads from on-premises environments to Azure.
• Demonstrated expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Deep understanding of Azure networking, identity, and core platform services.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, with confidence suggesting solutions and improvements to both peers and leadership.
• Proven experience communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including executives.
• Experience mentoring or teaching others in Azure and cloud infrastructure concepts.
• Solid foundation in automation, scripting, and cloud operational best practices.

Compensation: $55-$90/hr. (DOE)
