Apparel Technical Designer
Our client is seeking a Senior Apparel Technical Designer to support a high-performance women’s product team. This role requires a highly experienced technical design professional who can quickly integrate, confidently manage complex styles, and partner effectively across functions. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in fit, garment construction, and pattern modification, along with the communication and organizational skills needed to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Apparel Technical Designer Responsibilities
- Lead fit sessions, evaluate garment fit, and drive pattern corrections to ensure garments meet intended design, performance, and construction standards.
- Interpret design intent from flat sketches and translate concepts into detailed technical documentation and specifications.
- Create and maintain comprehensive tech packs using PLM, PCX, or comparable product lifecycle management systems.
- Develop, modify, and refine technical patterns, ensuring precision in measurements, grading, and garment construction details.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to resolve fit, construction, and manufacturability challenges.
- Communicate technical requirements and pattern adjustments to domestic and/or international factories.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strong organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Identify risks, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend practical, solution-oriented adjustments.
Apparel Technical Designer Qualifications
- Eight or more years of experience in a traditional Technical Designer or similar role, with clear ownership of fit and pattern responsibilities.
- Proven ability to lead fit sessions and confidently guide technical discussions with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency with PLM, PCX, or similar systems for creating and managing tech packs and technical documentation.
- Advanced knowledge of garment construction, with a preference for expertise in knits; wovens experience is beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting design sketches and creating or modifying technical patterns.
- Experience working directly with garment factories, including technical communication and issue resolution.
- Strong problem-solving skills, organizational discipline, and ability to operate effectively in a high-complexity environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly assume full workload responsibilities with minimal onboarding.
Preferred:
- Experience with performance or athlete-focused apparel.
- Exposure to outerwear, dresses, or skirts.
- Familiarity with CLO or comparable digital garment tools.
Compensation: Up to $51.33/hr. (DOE)
