Senior Apparel Merchant
Our client is seeking a Senior Apparel Merchant to help shape and deliver consumer-focused assortments within a fast-paced, performance-driven retail environment. This role blends strong product intuition with analytical rigor and requires someone who can translate consumer insights, marketplace data, and trends into compelling assortments across multiple seasons. The ideal candidate thrives in a matrixed organization, partners closely with cross-functional teams, and brings a deep understanding of how product, consumer, and retail metrics intersect.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Senior Apparel Merchant Responsibilities
- Drive consumer-centric assortment strategies by integrating product knowledge, marketplace insights, and retail performance data.
- Own and manage multi-season assortment planning, balancing current performance with future opportunities and franchise evolution.
- Translate consumer, sales, and trend insights into clear seasonal priorities and long-term assortment direction.
- Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Analytics to align product strategies with business objectives.
- Prepare and deliver seasonal tools, frameworks, and storytelling materials that support marketplace and regional partners.
- Monitor and analyze key retail metrics, including sell-through, margin, full-price realization, and inventory health, to inform decision-making.
- Contribute to seasonal reviews and line planning discussions, ensuring assortments reflect consumer demand and market realities.
- Operate with agility and autonomy in a dynamic environment, adjusting strategies based on in-season performance and emerging insights.
- Build strong working relationships across teams, influencing outcomes within a collaborative, matrixed structure.
Senior Apparel Merchant Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in apparel, footwear, and/or accessories merchandising, product creation, or retail.
- 4+ years of experience working within a vertical, multi-brand, or digital retail environment.
- Strong retail and digital metrics expertise, with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to turn consumer, trend, and marketplace insights into actionable assortment strategies.
- Clear passion for product, consumer behavior, and performance or lifestyle categories.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, Finance, and Operations partners.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with comfort navigating complex organizational structures.
- High attention to detail and appreciation for consistency across assortments and seasonal execution.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Compensation: Up to $41.33/hr. (DOE)
