SAP Technical Writer
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented SAP Technical Writer to support a major enterprise system implementation initiative. This role will work closely with project stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate complex SAP-related processes into clear, well-structured documentation that supports system design, configuration, and user adoption. The ideal candidate brings strong technical writing expertise, experience documenting SAP business processes, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

This role is a hybrid model in Sacramento, California.

SAP Technical Writer Responsibilities

• Partner with project stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand current-state business processes and document them for system implementation initiatives.
• Develop comprehensive business process documentation, including process narratives, user guides, and supporting materials aligned with SAP system design and configuration.
• Create detailed process flow diagrams using mapping tools such as Visio, clearly illustrating steps, decision points, roles, and inputs/outputs.
• Translate complex technical concepts and SAP terminology into clear, user-friendly documentation accessible to both business and technical audiences.
• Manage multiple documentation deliverables simultaneously, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of materials for review and approval.

SAP Technical Writer Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years of professional technical writing experience, preferably supporting IT systems, enterprise applications, or business process documentation.
• Experience contributing to at least one SAP project, specifically documenting business processes related to SAP modules or ERP system implementations.
• Strong understanding of business process analysis and process mapping methodologies, with the ability to document complex workflows.
• Proficiency with documentation and diagramming tools such as Visio, process mapping software, and document management systems.
• Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

• Hands-on experience working within SAP environments or supporting SAP users and project teams.
• Familiarity with SAP ERP modules or SAP S/4HANA implementations.
• Experience creating visual documentation using screenshots, annotations, and image editing tools.
• Understanding of operational workflows in utility, infrastructure, or large enterprise environments.
• SAP certifications or formal training related to SAP modules or SAP S/4HANA are a plus.

Compensation: $45-$60/hr. (DOE)
