Reports Developer
Our client is seeking an experienced Reports Developer to stabilize and standardize complex labor and union reporting during a period of organizational change. This contract role will partner closely with People & Culture leadership and HR Business Intelligence to bring structure, accuracy, and transparency to payroll- and compliance-sensitive reporting. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working hands-on within imperfect data environments to build trust in reporting outputs.

Portland, Oregon-based candidates are preferred for onsite collaboration, though remote consultants with availability for key onsite engagements will be considered. Travel will be reimbursed.

Reports Developer Responsibilities

  • Lead the stabilization of union and labor reporting by inventorying existing reports, identifying inconsistencies, and prioritizing high-risk data gaps.
  • Validate and reconcile payroll-critical and compliance-sensitive datasets to improve reporting accuracy and reduce manual rework.
  • Document business rules, definitions, data lineage, and metadata to establish a certified and transparent reporting foundation.
  • Partner with HRBI, Payroll, Labor Relations, and other stakeholders to confirm report accuracy and define ownership and refresh cadences.
  • Eliminate duplicative or conflicting reports and develop a prioritized remediation roadmap for unresolved data issues.
  • Create clear user guidance materials, quick-reference documentation, and job aids to support consistent interpretation and usage of reports.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to internal teams and provide transition documentation to enable long-term sustainment.

Reports Developer Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in reporting, analytics, or HR data environments, including hands-on dataset validation and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated experience stabilizing or certifying complex reporting environments involving payroll, compliance, or labor-related data.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, metadata documentation, and report lifecycle management.
  • Experience partnering with HRIS, HRBI, Payroll, or People Analytics teams in a cross-functional enterprise setting.
  • Ability to analyze inconsistent data structures, identify root causes of reporting discrepancies, and recommend practical remediation steps.
  • Proven ability to document processes, business rules, and data lineage in a clear and structured manner.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights for business stakeholders.

Compensation: $50-$55/hr. (DOE)
