Product Test Engineer
Our client is seeking a Product Test Engineer to support the development and validation of innovative performance products at the intersection of hardware, software, and human movement. This is an ideal opportunity for a technically curious, hands-on engineer who thrives in fast-paced, iterative environments, enjoys working directly with test participants, and can turn complex product behavior into actionable insights that drive engineering improvements.

This role is on-site in Beaverton, Oregon.

Product Test Engineer Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end product validation efforts for emerging physical product technologies, including planning, recruiting, scheduling, and executing hands-on testing with participants in controlled and real-world environments.
  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative test data using tools such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, AI-enabled analysis platforms, and related technical tools to identify trends, anomalies, and performance insights.
  • Partner closely with engineering, research, and cross-functional product teams to investigate issues, support root cause analysis, validate fixes, and influence iterative product improvements.
  • Develop, refine, and scale repeatable testing protocols, validation processes, and operational workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and test coverage across multiple product development cycles.
  • Manage regression testing and concurrent validation workstreams across evolving product releases while maintaining clear documentation, issue tracking, and structured reporting.
  • Support testing involving human performance technologies, including sensor-based systems, biomechanical inputs, motion analysis tools, or related athlete-focused product experiences.

Product Test Engineer Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in test engineering, product validation, quality engineering, or related hands-on testing roles involving physical or hardware-integrated products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Human Performance, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Experience designing and executing participant-based product testing, including recruiting test participants, collecting feedback, and translating findings into engineering recommendations.
  • Strong technical data analysis skills using Python, MATLAB, Excel, and modern AI-enabled analytical tools; ability to interpret system behavior and identify meaningful performance trends.
  • Experience working with hardware/software integrated systems, electromechanical devices, sensors, force measurement systems, motion capture tools, treadmills, or related testing technologies preferred.
  • Self-starter mindset with strong curiosity, process improvement orientation, excellent communication skills, and comfort operating in a fast-moving startup-style environment where ambiguity is expected.
