Patient Access Coordinator
Our client is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to provide responsive, accurate, and compassionate support within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional who can manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with patients and clinical teams, and exercise sound judgment while handling sensitive and time-critical information.
This role is on-site in Boston, Massachusetts.
Patient Access Coordinator Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient access and administrative activities while providing professional, service-oriented support to patients, families, clinical staff, physicians, and other internal teams.
- Accurately enter, retrieve, and maintain patient and administrative information within computerized systems while ensuring attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Manage multiple requests and workflows simultaneously, prioritizing tasks appropriately in a dynamic healthcare setting.
- Communicate clearly and professionally by phone, electronically, and in person while responding to questions and facilitating timely resolution of patient access needs.
- Apply knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations when reviewing, interpreting, and processing healthcare-related information.
- Perform general administrative functions, including data entry, document management, filing, telephone support, and other clerical activities.
- Use and troubleshoot standard office technology and equipment, escalating technical issues when appropriate.
- Exercise independent judgment, diplomacy, and discretion when addressing complex or time-sensitive situations.
Patient Access Coordinator Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within patient admitting, a medical office, managed care, health insurance, or customer service environment.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and common healthcare abbreviations, with the ability to interpret and apply them accurately.
- Proficiency with computers, data entry, and standard office technology, including the ability to navigate computerized information systems.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and other staff.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with demonstrated ability to multitask and manage detailed or complex processes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal interactions.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, including the ability to remain composed and make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced or high-pressure environment.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills.
- Multilingual communication skills are a plus.
Compensation: $20/hr.
