Non-Profit Accounting Consultant
Our client is seeking a highly adaptable Non-Profit Accounting Consultant who can bring immediate structure, clarity, and stability to a complex finance environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on grant management experience and strong project management skills. This individual is mission-driven, collaborative, and comfortable stepping into evolving systems and processes while partnering closely with leadership.

This position is hybrid/remote for candidates living in the state of Oregon. Applicants must currently live in Oregon.

Non-Profit Accounting Consultant Responsibilities

  • Provide Controller-level accounting leadership within a lean, capacity-constrained nonprofit finance team, operating with minimal onboarding.
  • Lead audit readiness and remediation efforts, including constructing audit workpapers, tying out accounts, and supporting multiple audit cycles.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting while supporting monthly close, reconciliations, and financial integrity.
  • Lead and strengthen grant tracking and reporting across a high-volume, Medicaid-heavy funding structure.
  • Drive systems and process improvements, while supporting key initiatives such as ERP optimization and new entity setup.

Non-Profit Accounting Consultant Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including direct nonprofit accounting expertise.
  • Proven experience managing complex grant funding environments with numerous funding streams including Medicaid.
  • Experience supporting audits, including preparation of audit workpapers and financial tie-outs.
  • Demonstrated Controller-level capability with the ability to work independently in complex, fast-changing environments.
  • Experience with cloud-based ERP systems required; Sage Intacct highly preferred.

Compensation: $50-$65/hr. (DOE)
