Network Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer IV to serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for the design, stability, and evolution of enterprise network infrastructure. This individual will partner closely with internal teams and external vendors to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable network services while supporting long-term technology initiatives and operational excellence.

This role is fully onsite in Houston, Texas.

Network Engineer Responsibilities

• Design, administer, and support enterprise network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless controllers, and access points.
• Ensure reliable operation of LAN, WAN, wireless, and voice networks through proactive monitoring, configuration management, and troubleshooting.
• Lead complex network initiatives and infrastructure projects from planning through implementation and completion.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison with network vendors and service providers, managing escalations, products, and service relationships.
• Implement and maintain network standards, procedures, and documentation to support security, reliability, and compliance.
• Support and optimize VOIP environments, including quality of service and traffic prioritization.
• Conduct regular network audits, inventory reviews, and configuration validations to ensure alignment with operational and security requirements.
• Research, evaluate, and test emerging network technologies and provide strategic recommendations based on business and technical needs.
• Coordinate scheduled maintenance activities and infrastructure changes, including after-hours or on-call support as part of a rotation.
• Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and collaborative support across IT teams as needed.

Network Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise network design, implementation, and support across wired, wireless, and WAN environments.
• Strong expertise with routing, switching, firewall platforms, and enterprise networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs, and TCP/IP.
• Experience designing and supporting VOIP solutions, quality of service, and traffic prioritization frameworks.
• Proficiency with network security and access control technologies such as 802.1x, NAC solutions, ACLs, and identity-based access systems.
• Demonstrated experience supporting environments managed in coordination with external service providers.
• Ability to produce clear, detailed technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with enterprise networking platforms and operating systems, with relevant industry certifications considered a plus.
• Eligibility to work within regulated industry requirements, including authorization to operate under applicable federal regulations.

Salary: $124K-$150K/year. (DOE)
