Network Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer IV to serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for the design, stability, and evolution of enterprise network infrastructure. This individual will partner closely with internal teams and external vendors to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable network services while supporting long-term technology initiatives and operational excellence.

This role is fully onsite in Houston, Texas.

Network Engineer Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless, and firewall technologies.
• Administer and optimize network environments leveraging platforms such as Aruba (ClearPass, switching, and routing) and Fortinet firewalls.
• Ensure high availability and performance across LAN, WAN, and wireless networks through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning.
• Lead complex network projects from architecture and planning through deployment and post-implementation support.
• Manage relationships with vendors and service providers, including escalations, solution design, and service delivery oversight.
• Maintain and enforce network security standards, including access control, segmentation, and compliance requirements.
• Support and enhance VOIP and QoS configurations to ensure reliable voice and data communications.
• Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
• Conduct network assessments, audits, and performance reviews to ensure alignment with best practices.
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to peers and cross-functional IT teams.

Network Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise network design, implementation, and support across wired, wireless, and WAN environments.
• Strong expertise with routing, switching, and firewall platforms, including hands-on experience with Aruba networking technologies (ClearPass, switching, and routing) and Fortinet firewalls.
• Deep understanding of enterprise networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs, and TCP/IP.
• Experience designing and supporting VOIP solutions, quality of service, and traffic prioritization frameworks.
• Proficiency with network security and access control technologies such as 802.1x, NAC solutions (including Aruba ClearPass), ACLs, and identity-based access systems.
• Demonstrated experience supporting environments managed in coordination with external service providers.
• Ability to produce clear, detailed technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with enterprise networking platforms and operating systems, with relevant industry certifications considered a plus.
• Eligibility to work within regulated industry requirements, including authorization to operate under applicable federal regulations.

Salary: $124K-$150K/year. (DOE)
