Lead Assortment Planner
Our client is seeking a Lead Assortment Planner to drive marketplace performance through strategic financial planning and data-driven assortment optimization. This role will focus on pre-season forecasting, in-season performance analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure assortments align with profitability goals, productivity targets, and consumer demand. The ideal candidate combines strong retail acumen with advanced analytical capabilities and thrives in a dynamic, partner-facing environment.
This role is onsite in Beaverton, Oregon.
Lead Assortment Planner Responsibilities
- Develop style-level and category-level financial plans to inform assortments, buys, and supply decisions.
- Build and manage pre-season forecasts while monitoring in-season performance to identify risks and opportunities.
- Analyze sales trends, product performance, and marketplace data to deliver actionable insights.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including sales, merchandising, brand, and marketplace partners to align financial plans with strategic objectives.
- Present financial narratives and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, influencing decision-making through data storytelling.
- Identify gaps between top-down targets and bottom-up plans, proposing adjustments to optimize business health.
- Continuously evaluate business performance indicators to drive productivity and profitability improvements.
- Foster collaborative relationships with external partner accounts to ensure aligned planning and execution.
Lead Assortment Planner Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Merchandising, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in planning, buying, or sales with a strong emphasis on retail or wholesale financial analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate large datasets and build financial models.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling recommendations.
- Strong influencing and communication skills, including experience presenting to cross-functional and partner audiences.
- Strategic thinker who can evaluate product potential within the marketplace and identify planning gaps.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience working closely with wholesale or marketplace partners.
- Demonstrated success optimizing assortments through data-led decision-making.
- Strong retail math foundation and business acumen.
Compensation: Up to $47.89/hr. (DOE)
