Laboratory Aide
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Aide to support daily operations within a busy pathology environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring specimens are received, prepared, and processed accurately while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace. The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, and comfortable assisting clinical staff with routine laboratory tasks.

This role is onsite in Boston, Massachusetts.

Laboratory Aide Responsibilities

  • Receive, document, and label incoming specimens with accuracy to support proper tracking and processing.
  • Assist with specimen intake and verification by confirming patient details and ensuring required documentation is complete.
  • Transport specimens, materials, and supplies between pathology, histology, and other designated clinical areas.
  • Prepare containers, cassettes, and other materials needed for grossing and routine lab workflows.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, instruments, and equipment by following established disinfection and safety procedures.
  • Dispose of biohazardous materials safely while complying with all infection-control and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels, restock consumables, and communicate supply needs to supervisors to prevent workflow disruptions.
  • Provide support to technologists and pathology staff with general pre-analytical tasks as assigned.
  • Contribute to overall laboratory operations to help maintain efficient and timely specimen processing.

Laboratory Aide Qualifications

  • High school student with work authorization or high school graduate enrolled in or having completed a vocational or academic program; science-related coursework or degree pursuits preferred.
  • Previous experience in a clinical, laboratory, or hospital setting is preferred.
  • Strong manual dexterity with the ability to handle small instruments and laboratory materials safely and effectively.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional, considerate approach when working with staff and clinical teams.
  • Well-organized and able to work independently once given direction, with strong attention to detail.
